Cosmetic Microneedling

Microneedling aka collagen induction is a minimally invasive procedure that is used to encourage collagen production using small, sterilized needles. It may help smooth, firm, and tone skin and improve the appearance of scars, acne, and wrinkles. Microneedling rejuvenates and plumps the skin with minimal discomfort and very little downtime, and it can be adjusted to fit each person’s needs. We highly recommend you have a consultation first to see if this is the right fit for your skin.

How many sessions will I need?

Each session may last about 1.5 hours and most start seeing results after just one treatment pending on the skins age and damage. However, for long term results, we recommend doing 2-3 sessions per year. For greater results, this treatment works great when alternating with a Hybrid HydraFacial/IPL Combo.

It’s not a quick fix. It takes time to notice a difference. That’s because your body is healing itself.

Benefits of Microneedling can include:

  • reducing the appearance of scars, including acne scars

  • reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

  • reducing enlarged pores

  • reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, or dark spots

  • smoothing uneven skin tone

  • improving skin elasticity

  • reducing the appearance of stretch marks

  • reducing the appearance of scars

  • promoting hair growth in people with alopecia

Who is NOT a good candidate?

  • People who have certain skin conditions, such as psoriasis or eczema

  • have open wounds or active acne

  • have had radiation therapy recently

  • have a history of skin scars (Keloids)

  • Anyone under 30 with an exception to acne scarring

Microneedling will not be performed on people who are pregnant or nursing, have active cold sores, open wounds, or have used retinoids or chemical peels, Botox and filers within the last two weeks or Accutane within the past 6 months. Please advise your technician.

Are there any risks or side effects?

Like all cosmetic procedures, Microneedling carries some risks. The most common side effect is minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure. You may also see redness for a few days. It is best to plan your Microneedling appointment on a weekend or when you know you will have a full day of down time.

Rare Side Effects (Call your doctor if you notice more severe side effects, such as)

  • bleeding

  • bruising

  • infection

  • peeling

What should I avoid pre procedure?

Avoid blood thinning meds such as aspirin, omega 3 fatty acid, alcohol and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment, as these may contribute to increased swelling, bruising, and irritation.

What can I expect after the procedure?

It’s best to let your skin heal before applying makeup. Your skin will also be more sensitive to the sun, so be sure to apply sunscreen. Still, it’s recommended that you wait one week before exposing your skin to sunlight and harsh chemicals.

After Microneedling, your skin works fairly quickly to rejuvenate new tissue. In theory, you should see results within a couple of weeks. You can help your skin heal after Microneedling by staying hydrated, using hyaluronic acid serum, using a distilled or spring water spray and or a cold damp towel.
