Can you get a HydraFacial while pregnant?

Given the increased popularity of the HydraFacial skin treatment, several patients have inquired about the safety of the procedure, particularly while pregnant. In general, yes, the HydraFacial treatment is absolutely safe to have completed while pregnant. However, you should absolutely inform your skincare provider that you are currently pregnant prior to being treated, as there are some parts of the procedure that may be omitted for pregnant patients. The HydraFacial treatment is a very powerful facial and can help patients recover dulled or uneven textured skin. This is still true for pregnant patients who want to look and feel their best even during times of rampant hormonal changes that can cause melasma and oily skin.

Who is not a good candidate?

Treatments will not be performed on anyone who has an active rash, cold sores, open wounds, active acne, sunburn, severe rosacea or has used Accutane within the past 6 months or usage of prescription retinoids aka tretinoin within the past two weeks.

Will I break out after treatment?

Yes, it's common to break out after a HydraFacial, especially with congested or acne-prone skin, because the treatment deeply cleanses and brings underlying oil, bacteria, and debris to the surface, a process known as "purging" that usually clears up in a few days. This temporary breakout is generally a good sign, showing the treatment is clearing blockages, but you should follow aftercare instructions, avoid picking, and contact your provider if irritation persists.
